General Contractor in Broward County

Broward is home. We are based in Hollywood and work across the county, from the beach cities to the western suburbs. Broward is in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone like Miami-Dade, and it has its own countywide building safety inspection program for older buildings.

What makes building in Broward different

  • High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. Homes and ordinary buildings are designed for 170 mph winds, and exterior products must be approved for HVHZ use.
  • City building departments. Most of Broward is incorporated, and each city runs its own building department and permit process, under countywide rules set by the Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals.
  • Building Safety Inspection Program. Under Board of Rules and Appeals Policy 05-05, buildings 25 years or older need an engineer's or architect's structural and electrical safety inspection, then every 10 years. One- to four-family homes of three habitable stories or fewer, townhouses and buildings under 3,500 square feet are exempt. Reports are due within 180 days of the notice, and repairs generally within 180 days of the report. See our full guide to the 25-year inspection.
  • Condo milestone inspections. The state milestone law also applies to condo and co-op buildings three habitable stories or taller.
  • Flood zones and canals. Waterfront and coastal properties often sit in flood zones, which affects elevations and large renovations.
